Malbec's History
Malbec Peristaltic Pumps was founded by Edouard Malbec in 1962 when a friend asked him to develop a peristaltic pump for use in the garden. Edouard decided that this invention could be adapted to the Automotive market and in 1964 the first licenses for production use with windscreen washer pumps to Klaxon-Neman (today Valeo) and Simca (today Chrysler) were set in place.
In 1968, Edouard expanded the business of peristaltic pumps for use in the do-it-yourself sector, through collaboration with Black & Decker. Edouard then continued the business development into medical applications, and in 1977, the first contract was awarded by Abbot Laboratories, opening the door to the medical market of North America.
In 1988, Edouard’s son, Bertrand, joined the company after a career with the French National Agency for Promotion of Research (ANVAR). Supported by two venture capital funds, Bertrand began to focus on new models of innovative and high-performance pumps. This research led to winning contracts with Calor (ironing stations), Debiotech (disposable medical material), and Rietschle Thomas, a Gardner Denver's subsidiary. These partnerships provided significant growth in major pump applications worldwide. In 1994, Satelec also awarded pump contracts to Malbec for use in their dental sector.
Malbec has reinforced its presence in the medical and sanitary sector by providing answers to many custom requests, such as automatic public toilets for JC Decaux, toilet disinfection pumps for CWS and even a pump to inseminate poultry for IMV!
Malbec Peristaltic Pumps has acquired a unique know-how through 45 years of innovation, and continuous product improvement. The company continues to focus on providing innovative solutions to the marketplace and is looking forward to a great future.
